Mónica Mendes is an assistant professor coordinating the Multimedia Art degree at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon, designer and researcher in Digital Media Arts. She is also a founding member of the AZ Labs hackerspace altLab. Previously, she worked in exhibition and book design as a designer at Atelier B2, and as a free-lancer corporate identity and interface design consultant.
As a digital media artist and researcher, Mónica has been developing and presenting ARTiVIS in diverse conferences, exhibitions and public demonstrations, such as USE(R), Artech, City One Minutes Film, Futureplaces, AZ Labs Hackmeets, Pop Up, ACM Multimedia, TEI, Artropocode, SXSW, CHI, Sci|Art NanoLab, ISEA, ACE, Creative Algorithms, NordiChi, DIS, Interface Culture Lab, Balance-Unbalance, STTF Sustainable Futures, European Researchers Night, Civic Veillance, and Immersive Media.
