Expertise Areas:
Non-Intrusive Load Monitoring, Power & Energy, ICT for Sustainability & Smart Cities, Machine Learning, Human-Computer Interaction

I have just recently (December 2016) completed my PhD in Computer Science at M-ITI / University of Madeira.

Currently, I am a post-doctoral research fellow at M-ITI, and the data science lead at prsma.com (BrightCuriosity, Lda.). Prsma is a M-ITI spin-off that was co-founded by myself and two other colleges as a result of our PhD thesis in the fields of non-intrusive energy monitoring and eco-feedback technology. I am also a research collaborator of the Intelligent Infrastructure Research Lab (INFERLab) at Carnegie Mellon University.

In 2007 and 2011, respectively, I received an engineering degree in Informatics and a masters of science in Computer Science, both from the University of Madeira.

I am a member of the IEEE Computer,  Power & Energy, and Computational Intelligence societies; I am also a full member of the Portuguese board of Engineers (Ordem dos Engenheiros) since 2011.
