Short Bio:

José Luís Silva holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Portuguese MAP-i Consortium (University of Minho, University of Aveiro and University of Porto) and performed a postDoc at the University of Toulouse (France) in collaboration with Airbus. He is assistant professor at Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (ISCTE-IUL) and member of both LARSyS laboratory (Madeira-ITI) and ISTAR-IUL. His work has been published at venues such as IJHCS, ENTCS, ACM EICS, ACM SAC, ACM TEI, INTERACT. In the past he was invited assistant professor at University of Madeira, lecturer at Cávado e Ave Polytechnic Institute, visiting PhD student at Georgia Institute of Technology (USA) and Newcastle University (UK), and member of the INESC TEC laboratory. His main research interests lies upon Software Engineering, Human-Computer Interaction, Ubiquitous Computing, Virtual Environments and Formal Methods.

Major Distinctions:

 2013 - Best Iberian PhD thesis in Systems and Information Technologies from AISTI 

 2012 - PhD Award - Fraunhofer Portugal Challenge (Awarding Research of Practical Utility)
